LTOE Update - 001 - Trip Report

Last week, I booked a room with four friends at Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter resort and spent 2 days in a row at the parks. This is something my friends nor I had ever done before as we live less than an hour away and would always just go back home when our day at Walt Disney World was over.

My friends John, Dylan and Levi and I drove over to the Animal Kingdom at 10am this past Thursdays morning (January 7, 2010). We had a TON of fun riding Expedition Everest and Dinosaur as it was Dylan's and Levi's first time. Then we rode Kilimanjaro Safaris and got to see more animals than I've ever seen before while riding that attraction!

Then we went over to our hotel and checked in. We unpacked our stuff, got settled in our room and then we headed out to the Disney Hollywood Studios. We went right over to Rock 'n' Rollercoaster (of course) and had a blast riding that with them for their first time. They love rollercoasters and said that this was nothing less than "freaking awesome!"

After that, we walked over to the Tower of Terror, another first time, and had a blast. It was SO AWESOME getting to ride it with them! Levi had the great idea of hiking his knees up in the air like a "cannonball" to give you much more of a sense of weightlessness.

Then, we went over to Indiana Jones. It was great getting to see that show again. I hadn't seen it in years! Then we headed over to Muppet Vision: 3D right before going back over to the Tower of Terror using a fastpass.

Then we left for Downtown Disney as all the other theme parks were closed. We didn't really know what to do since the clubs were closed and we're pretty much your average broke-college-students. Then we saw the Lego store and walked over there and started building cars. It was really cool because I met this little kid from Whales who was super excited about racing his car that he decided to ask me if I'd compete against him. So we did...several times. LOL! But I won in the end and even won a contest for having the most creative car. That was really cool!

Then we went over to the edge of Pleasure Island, right next to the old Adventurer's Club building and watched some people dance around and make a fool of themselves. Then...we made a fool of ourselves...lol. But it was okay because we enjoyed making a fool of ourselves ;-) We even met a girl there! She was on stilts, so it was kind of hard to talk to her, but then she knelt down (don't ask me how the heck she did that) and she talked to us.

Then we headed over to the Contemporary Resort at about 10pm and played cards and just hung out. Around 11, we left and went back to the room and played cards again until around 3am...yikes!

Then it was an early morning...at 10am! We got up and checked out, then we headed over to the Magic Kingdom. We got Fastpasses for Space Mountain, rode it then headed over to Big Thunder Mountain. We got fastpasses for that and then ate at Pecos Bill's. We all got the Bacon Double Cheesburger which was really good, then we headed to Space Mountain.

Now on Space Mountain, we all came off the right thinking "oh my gosh, that was sooo much faster than usual!" I don't know what it was, but I sat in the front and I guess with it's recent refurbishment in making the ride darker, they were able to add much more of a thrill to it.

Then we left for Hollywood Studios again. We did Rock 'n' Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror again with our new-found riding style lol. Then went to Downtown Disney to look for that girl again...ahem...yeah we're a bunch of boys.

Then we all got to enjoy extra magic hours for the first time over at Epcot. This was what I was looking forward to the most because I had heard so many awesome things about it but had never been able to take advantage of it since I had never stayed in a hotel. We went over to Soarin' and got on in less than 20 minutes....no joke! Then we rode Test Track just before going over to the countries in World Showcase. They really enjoyed walking through the countries as we all talked in character in each corresponding country. Hehehe...that was a lot of fun.

Then we ended the night and the trip with a search for my car and then we headed home. All in all, a great trip. We plan on going again in a few months. =)
